| Background Statement: | St. Philip's Episcopal Church has been historically noted for three
aspects of its life: a deep commitment to the integrity of the
holiness of beauty in liturgy and music; an international hospitality
which welcomes everyone; and an abiding sense of centrality of social
justice to the Gospel and the preferential option for all people on
the margins of society. Lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, and transgendered
people find particular support in the Gay and Lesbian Spirituality
